Code of Ethics

The Code of Ethics identifies a Social Workers ethical responsibilities and bicultural code of practice that together provide a set of standards by which ANZASW and member Social Workers can determine what is legitimate or acceptable behaviour within social work practice. The Code also provides the basis against which the professional conduct of social workers can be measured and is used as the reference point in any proceedings dealing with complaints concerning alleged unethical behaviour of members. All members of ANZASW receive a free copy of the Code of Ethics but copies can also be purchased from National Office.

Competent Social Work Practice

This handbook for members of ANZASW describes the structure and processes used by the Board of Competency to assess the practice competence of members. The assessment of practice competence requires members to demonstrate competence against the ten standards for social work practice ratified by the Association, commitment to the Code of Ethics and adherence to ANZASW policies. All members of ANZASW receive a free copy but copies can also be purchased from National Office.

Using Content from ANZASW Publications

In recent years it has been increasingly brought to the notice of ANZASW that many institutions and agencies seek to include (or make reference to) many of the ANZASW publications within documents they may be preparing to use as teaching materials for students or for agency accreditation and other purposes. For this reason a policy and guidelines have been introduced for how ANZASW publications might be used. Please click the link below for a copy of this policy.
