Current Projects
To enable ANZASW to meet the goals and objectives that have been agreed for 2005 to 2010 the following projects are currently being undertaken:
Review of Governance Structure
Between November 2006 and June 2007 ANZASW undertook a review of the organisation's governance structure. The purpose of this review was to ensure that the Association is structured in such a way that enables the organisation to be responsive and flexible in how is responds to the challenges that will be faced in the coming years. This project has now seen the introduction of a new governance structure that is detailed elsewhere on this site.
Review of Complaints Resolution Process
During 2006 and 2007 ANZASW undertook a review of the complaints resolution process. This project is now complete and involved extensive consultation with members of the Association. An exciting outcome from this project has been the development of the Mana Enhancing Restorative Resolution Principles. These principles are now applied to two different mechanisms used for resolving complaints. The first mechanism uses a hui based facilitated mediation process and the second uses a judicial hearing process. A full explanation of the new ANZASW complaints resolution process can be found here..
Competency Handbook
The Competency Handbook is currently undergoing a full revision to ensure that the information provided to members is accurately reflecting current policy for the competency service. It is anticipated that the new edition will be published in November. A free copy will be provided to all new members and all existing members when they are preparing for recertification. Copies are also available for purchase on this website.
Continuing Professional Development
Work continues in the area of continuing professional development building on the project work undertaken by Jo Siegel in 2006. Robyn Corrigan has now completed a pilot study that involved the delivery of a CPD event on bicultural practice in four locations. A report from this project was presented to the National Council in June 2007 and work will now continue to see the implementation of a national CPD programme. ANZASW is currently seeking to appoint a new manager who will have responsibility for the development of this exciting national CPD programme.
Communications
ANZASW has recognised the need to improve both internal and external communications and to provide a clear voice for the profession. As part of that work the ANZASW website has been redeveloped and was launched in September 2007. The Association is also planning to redevelop the monthly Notice Board news letter and to make it available via email. The Association appointed a part-time Communications Manager, starting in January 2008, to coordinate and advance this work.
