Statement from Minister for Social Development, Hon Ruth Dyson, in support of Social Workers Day 2008:
Social Workers Day is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to publicly acknowledge the social work profession and to celebrate the contribution that you all make to the wellbeing of children, young people,families and senior citizens.You work in some very challenging environments and deal with many difficult and complex cases, but you also make an enormous difference thanks to your professionalism, skill, dedication and passion for the job. I hope that you will all take some time on national Social Workers' Day to celebrate your contribution.
